WHEREAS, The annual Rio Fest BBQ Showdown takes place each |
|
|
year in the c |
|
|
ity of Rio Grande City; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and |
|
|
over the years, Texas barbecue cook-off cooks have provided |
|
|
superior cuisine, satisfying the most discriminating of palates; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An International Barbeque Cookers Association |
|
|
championship event, Rio Fest BBQ Showdown features highly skilled |
|
|
pit masters putting their talents to the test as they vie to produce |
|
|
the tastiest entries in several different categories; along with |
|
|
great food and spirited competition, attendees can also enjoy live |
|
|
music, a car show, and a carnival; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A fun-filled event for individuals of all ages, Rio |
|
|
Fest BBQ Showdown is a popular celebration of Texas-style food that |
|
|
is all the more special for helping to brighten the holiday season |
|
|
for young people in the local area; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate Rio Fest BBQ Showdown and extend |
|
|
sincere best wishes to the event's organizers and participants for |
|
|
an enjoyable and rewarding experience. |
