R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Borger Youth Advisory Council visited
  the State Capitol on January 29, 2015, demonstrating an active
  interest in issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, Created by the Borger City Council in July 2013, the
  Borger Youth Advisory Council provides a platform for young
  citizens to improve their leadership and communication skills,
  increase their knowledge of local government and vital public
  matters, and contribute to the community through service and
  regular interaction with city council members; the BYAC is composed
  of 14 students and acts as the voice for youth in the city of Borger;
  and
         WHEREAS, In addition to creating their own charter and
  presenting the city council with several resolutions, the student
  members of BYAC have met with their state representative, state
  senator, and congressman concerning synthetic drugs and
  e-cigarettes; they have also developed resolutions about these
  topics to send to state and federal branches of government; and
         WHEREAS, Locally, BYAC members work to earn community
  education credits by accumulating volunteer service hours in a
  system modeled after the Texas Municipal League Institute; the BYAC
  has assisted a variety of nonprofit organizations with projects,
  among them the Rotary Club golf tournament and the Hutchinson
  County Crisis Center telethon, and has also endeavored to give back
  by coordinating a community awareness day in October 2013;
  additionally, the members held the first annual "Light Up The Sky
  Against Hunger" 5K fun run on April 4, 2014, to benefit the Snack
  Pak 4 Kids program; and
         WHEREAS, Current members of the Borger Youth Advisory Council
  are Danielle Brittain, Vincent Hearon, Vannesa Munoz, Anfernee
  Glover, Lizet Dour, J. T. Conner, Taylor Packebush, Efren Munoz,
  Bianet Urizar, Luke Wyatt, Hagen Young, Jara Callahan, Jake Conner,
  and Rhon Munoz; the organization is further supported by sponsors
  Brandy Callahan, Karen Felker, Marvin "Bubba" Dickson, Eddie
  Edwards, Hayli Young, Efren and DaVonna Munoz, and Annabeth and Ben
  Conner; and
         WHEREAS, The Texas Capitol is an ideal setting for students
  to discover the rich heritage of the Lone Star State and to gain
  insight into the workings of the state legislature, and it is a
  pleasure to recognize the civic-minded members of the Borger Youth
  Advisory Council; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the Borger Youth Advisory Council for
  its many good works and extend to its members sincere best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
