R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Jack Thompson is retiring from the Amarillo
  Independent School District Board of Trustees in 2015, after 35
  years of dedicated service; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Thompson has been a member of the Amarillo ISD
  board since 1980, and he is retiring as the organization's most
  senior trustee; his diligent efforts have greatly benefited the
  district, and he has provided unwavering support to students
  through his work with the district's Help One Student to Succeed and
  Achievement through Commitment to Education programs; in addition,
  he has offered his time and talents on the Amarillo Education
  Foundation Board of Directors and on numerous scholarship
  committees; and
         WHEREAS, Recognized for his impressive record of leadership
  and experience, this notable Texan was named a Master Trustee by the
  Texas Association of School Boards in 1997, and he holds an honorary
  life membership in the Texas PTA; and
         WHEREAS, A respected and longtime resident of Amarillo,
  Dr. Thompson enjoyed a successful 37-year career at the Pantex
  Plant before his retirement; he has volunteered with a number of
  worthwhile organizations within the community, including Big
  Brothers/Big Sisters and Meals On Wheels; moreover, he has been
  active in the Church of Christ, serving as an elder, deacon, and
  Sunday school teacher; and
         WHEREAS, Jack Thompson has exemplified the determination,
  vision, and compassion essential for the continued improvement of
  our public school system, and his many valuable contributions to
  Amarillo ISD will continue to be appreciated for years to come; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Dr. Jack Thompson on his service on the
  Amarillo Independent School District Board of Trustees and extend
  to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Thompson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
