R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Univision 41 in San Antonio is celebrating the 60th |
|
|
anniversary of its founding in 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With its initial broadcast on June 10, 1955, KCOR |
|
|
Channel 41 became the first Spanish language television station in |
|
|
the United States; in 1961, the station's initials changed to KWEX |
|
|
and Emilio Nicolas Sr. became the first general manager; over the |
|
|
years, Univision programming, which includes news, sports, |
|
|
entertainment, and other informative and educational shows, has |
|
|
developed to serve the needs and interests of San Antonio's growing |
|
|
population; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In honor of its 60th anniversary, Univision 41 is |
|
|
hosting a VIP reception and downtown studio grand reopening on June |
|
|
26; the celebration will continue at Trader's Village on June 28, |
|
|
with live music, food, and other festivities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For six decades, this acclaimed television station |
|
|
has made significant contributions to the community, and it is a |
|
|
pleasure to recognize Univision 41 for the reputation for |
|
|
excellence it has achieved; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 60th anniversary of Univision 41 |
|
|
in San Antonio and extend to all those involved with the station |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Univision 41 as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
