R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  death of Louise W. Ware of Bellaire on April 24, 2015, at the age of
  87; and
         WHEREAS, The former Louise Wilson was born in Lubbock on July
  30, 1927, to Vaughn and Mary Wilson; she learned about public
  service at an early age from her father, who was a city attorney for
  Lubbock and later an attorney for the Railroad Commission of Texas;
  raised in Lubbock, Mrs. Ware finished high school in Austin and
  entered The University of Texas at the age of 16; she earned a
  bachelor's degree in medical technology in 1948; and
         WHEREAS, During her college years, she met her future
  husband, Henry Ware, a veteran of World War II who had piloted a
  B-17 bomber and spent time in a German prisoner of war camp; they
  were married in Houston in 1949 and shared 58 rewarding years
  together; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Ware was employed in a hospital laboratory
  until 1953, when she and her husband moved to Bellaire, where she
  devoted herself to raising their four children, Cyndy, Hank, Pam,
  and Amos; she worked with the Houston Speech and Hearing Center
  Auxiliary, and she served as a member of the PTA and the San Jacinto
  Girl Scout board, as a Girl Scout leader to two troops and den
  mother to two Boy Scout dens, and as a baseball coach and a
  swimming, canoeing, first aid, and sailing instructor; she enjoyed
  playing bridge and arranging dinner parties, and she was always
  sewing, crocheting, or knitting something for her family; and
         WHEREAS, When her children were older, Mrs. Ware took an
  active interest in civic affairs, and she served on the Bellaire
  City Council for four years; in 1978, she became the first woman in
  the city's history to be elected mayor; she also devoted a great
  deal of time and energy to the Metro Board, the Bellaire
  Bicentennial Commission, the Texas Municipal League, the Bellaire
  Historical Society, the American Heart Association, the Friends of
  the Bellaire Library, the West University Republican Women's Club,
  the Houston Transit Forum, the Harris County Historical Commission,
  and many other civic organizations; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Ware's numerous awards included the Girl Scout
  Thanks Badge, the Chamber of Commerce "Mr. Bellaire" Award, the
  "Something Special Award," and lifetime membership in the Chamber
  of Commerce; the Bellaire Metro Transit Center was named in her
  honor, and a small park near her home was named the Ware Family
  Park; and
         WHEREAS, Known affectionately as "Looie" to her friends and
  as "Meema" to her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren,
  this dynamic woman dedicated her boundless energy to caring for her
  family and her community, and she leaves behind a legacy of civic
  engagement and service to others that will continue to inspire all
  those who knew and loved her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Louise W. Ware and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
  children, Cyndy Paré and her husband, Jimmy, Hank Ware and his wife,
  Linda, Pam Emerson and her husband, Chuck, and Amos Ware and his
  wife, Marta; to her grandchildren, George Crawford, Bobby Crawford
  and his partner, Shannon Gonzalez, Andrew and Emily Paré, Molly and
  Shane Ware, Mary Emerson, and Anne Emerson-Gutierrez and her
  husband, Daniel; to her great-grandchildren, Cheryl Bontje,
  Jessica Kaluza, Jimmy Crawford, Rilyn Paré, and Arianna Kaluza; to
  her brother, Vaughn Edgar Wilson II, and his wife, Pat; to her
  sister-in-law, Barbara C. Wilson; to her brother-in-law, Stephen
  Ware, and his wife, Jean; to her niece, Patti Richards, and her
  husband, Tom Hogle; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Louise
  Ware.
