R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Lillie Beatrice Thomas of Houston on May 10, 2015, at the
  age of 95; and
         WHEREAS, The former Lillie Hill was born in Lake Charles,
  Louisiana, on January 11, 1920, to Lucy and Everett Hill, and she
  grew up in the company of eight siblings; a member of the Jack Yates
  High School Class of 1937, she attended nursing school and went on
  to enjoy a career that spanned more than two decades at the Veterans
  Affairs Medical Center in Houston; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Thomas married George Amon Lillie, and over the
  years, the couple were blessed with two daughters, Maria and
  Ardell; fortunate to find love again, she was joined in matrimony to
  Edward Thomas, and they became the parents of two children, Octavia
  and the late Gerald Thomas; she eventually knew the joy of welcoming
  three additional generations into her family; and
         WHEREAS, Active in her community, Mrs. Thomas was a valued
  member at Blueridge United Methodist Church for many years before
  joining the congregation of St. John's United Methodist Church,
  where she served in the Diamond Ministry and as a member of the
  usher and communion boards; moreover, she was involved in the
  Veterans Affairs Retiree Club and the Coats of Calantes; and
         WHEREAS, This beloved matriarch devoted herself to her faith
  and her family, and those who were privileged to share in her love
  and affection will forever hold her close in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lillie Beatrice
  Thomas and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family:
  to her daughters, Maria E. Jackson, Ardell Mock and her husband,
  Ronald, and Octavia Thomas; to her five grandchildren, Demetria,
  Julie, Kary, Julian, and Joshua; to her eight great-grandchildren
  and her three great-great-grandchildren; and to her many other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lillie
  Beatrice Thomas.
