R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, St. Francis de Sales Catholic School in Houston is |
|
commemorating the 50th anniversary of its founding with a |
|
celebration on April 12, 2015; and |
|
WHEREAS, The school held its first classes on September 8, |
|
1964, for children in the first through the sixth grades; following |
|
the Dominican education philosophy, St. Francis de Sales Catholic |
|
School helps children to become grounded in their faith while |
|
encouraging academic excellence and a vibrant sense of community; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, St. Francis de Sales has expanded |
|
its curriculum while remaining faithful to its established |
|
principles, and today it serves approximately 470 students from |
|
prekindergarten through eighth grade; in addition to traditional |
|
disciplines, the school offers studies in areas such as music, |
|
Spanish, and technology; it is also home to a number of sports teams |
|
and academic and service organizations, which give students myriad |
|
opportunities for enhanced personal development and present |
|
parents with occasions for further involvement in their children's |
|
lives; and |
|
WHEREAS, For five decades, St. Francis de Sales Catholic |
|
School has equipped a number of young Texans with a strong |
|
educational foundation, and it is indeed fitting that the school be |
|
recognized at this point in its rich history; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of St. Francis |
|
de Sales Catholic School and extend to its administrators, faculty, |
|
staff, and students sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
