R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Realizing their season-long goal of being the best
  6A basketball team in Texas, the Plano West High School Wolves won
  the University Interscholastic League state championship with a
  victory on March 14, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, The title game win closed out an unforgettable year
  in which Plano West went undefeated against its league rivals to
  capture the district crown and then made an impressive run through
  the playoffs; the team recorded a commanding victory over Timber
  Creek High School in the bi-district round before defeating Coppell
  and Cedar Hill in closer contests; wins against Amarillo and Allen
  and a semifinal triumph over MacArthur completed the team's advance
  to the 6A title game; and
         WHEREAS, Playing the team from Clear Lake High School in the
  tournament final, the Wolves found themselves in a hard-fought
  battle; trailing throughout most of the game, the Plano West
  players demonstrated their undeniable will to win by closing the
  gap in the second half, and a Wolves basket with 37 seconds
  remaining tied the score at 52; then, with the fans on their feet in
  the Alamodome, senior D. J. Hogg took control, dribbling to the top
  of the key and beating the buzzer with a perfect shot that gave
  Plano West a 56-54 triumph and earned Mr. Hogg the game's Most
  Valuable Player award; and
         WHEREAS, The Wolves' success is a testament to the value of
  teamwork, with outstanding contributions also being provided
  throughout the year by the other members of the roster: Mickey
  Mitchell, Grant Betz, Soso Jamabo, Chris Giles, Waseem Limbada,
  Japheth Mengistu, Derrick Aimes, Vezi Magalela, Jalen Stafford,
  Christian Gans, Ryan Smith, Michael McGraw, Emeka Obukwelu, Level
  Ramsey, and Tyler Davis; head coach Anthony Morgan and his staff
  provided valuable guidance to the players, inspiring them to
  perform to their full potential; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating the talent and commitment of true
  champions, the Plano West Wolves have become a source of great pride
  to their school and community, and the memory of this season's
  accomplishments will remain with them for years to come; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Plano West High School
  basketball team on winning the UIL 6A state championship and extend
  to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
  the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
