R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Proving itself the finest junior college squad in
  the nation once again, the women's track and field team of South
  Plains College placed first in the National Junior College Athletic
  Association Indoor Track and Field Championships, held in
  Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 6 and 7, 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Capturing their fourth national title since 2009,
  the Lady Texans were paced in track events by Chrisann Gordon, who
  won the 600-meter and 800-meter races, and Domonique Williams, who
  bested her opponents in the 400-meter dash; the two also combined
  forces with teammates Kassidi Jones and Victoria Salvadores to win
  the distance medley relay, and Ms. Williams joined Medinah Spencer,
  Brandi Dobbin, and Alexis Hyshaw to clinch the gold in the 4 x
  400-meter relay; and
         WHEREAS, Diamond Gause contributed to the medal count with a
  first-place showing in the 60-meter dash; in field events, Morgan
  Hartsell was crowned champion in the pole vault, and Anyi
  Garcias-Solis claimed the triple jump title; and
         WHEREAS, These talented athletes were guided by head coach
  Chris Beene and associate head coach Blaine Wiley; in recognition
  of his outstanding work, Mr. Beene was named Men's and Women's Head
  Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country
  Coaches Association following the meet, while Mr. Wiley earned the
  Assistant Coach of the Year honor; and
         WHEREAS, With their exceptional performances at the national
  level, the Lady Texans have brought further acclaim to South Plains
  College, and they may take justifiable pride in this significant
  achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the South Plains College women's
  track and field team on winning the national title at the 2015 NJCAA
  Indoor Track and Field Championships and extend to all those
  associated with the team sincere best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Lady Texans as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
