R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A painting by Sophia Price, a kindergartener at |
|
|
University Park Elementary School, is being featured in the 2015 |
|
|
Youth Art Month exhibition taking place at the Bob Bullock Texas |
|
|
State History Museum and the State Capitol; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1961, National Youth Art Month is |
|
|
held every March to highlight the importance of art education and |
|
|
encourage support for quality school art programs; exhibitions |
|
|
across the nation showcase the creativity of young artists, and in |
|
|
Texas, the public can enjoy their work at community centers, |
|
|
galleries, schools, and other venues; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The curators for Youth Art Month chose Sophia |
|
|
Price's painting titled "Night Owl" for inclusion in the 2015 |
|
|
exhibition, and she is one of only three kindergarteners to achieve |
|
|
this honor; the talent and creativity reflected in her work |
|
|
demonstrate the value of providing instruction to even the youngest |
|
|
students and the benefit of encouraging them to express themselves |
|
|
through art; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sophia Price has distinguished herself at a very |
|
|
early age, and the selection of her painting for the Youth Art Month |
|
|
exhibition is a source of pride to her family, her fellow students, |
|
|
and the faculty of University Park Elementary School; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Sophia Price on the inclusion of |
|
|
her painting in the 2015 Youth Art Month exhibition at the Bob |
|
|
Bullock Texas State History Museum and the State Capitol and extend |
|
|
to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Sophia as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
