A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to employment of athletic coaches by school districts. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 21.003, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
|
|
|
(d) A person who does not hold a certificate or permit |
|
|
issued as provided by Subchapter B may be employed part-time as an |
|
|
athletic coach by a school district. This subsection does not |
|
|
authorize a person employed as an athletic coach to provide |
|
|
academic instruction, other than as assigned in athletic class |
|
|
periods, to students without holding an appropriate certificate or |
|
|
permit issued as provided by Subchapter B. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
