A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an annual report of used motor vehicle purchaser |
|
|
complaints. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 2301, Occupations Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 2301.206 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 2301.206. ANNUAL REPORT ON USED MOTOR VEHICLE |
|
|
COMPLAINTS. (a) In this section, "used motor vehicle" means a |
|
|
motor vehicle that has been the subject of a first sale. |
|
|
(b) Not later than December 31 of each year, the department |
|
|
shall publish on the department's Internet website a publicly |
|
|
available report that: |
|
|
(1) identifies and defines categories of complaints |
|
|
made by purchasers of used motor vehicles to the department; |
|
|
(2) identifies the number of complaints, if any, in |
|
|
each category for each used motor vehicle dealer in this state; |
|
|
(3) analyzes the information in the report and |
|
|
compares the reported information to that reported in the previous |
|
|
year; and |
|
|
(4) identifies any differences in the content and |
|
|
format of the report from the previous year. |
|
|
(c) The report must be posted on the department's Internet |
|
|
website in a searchable and readable format. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
