A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to reporting of teacher turnover information by public |
|
|
schools. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 39.306, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (e-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e-1) A teacher who is employed by a school district through |
|
|
participation in a program that requires a two-year teaching |
|
|
commitment in an underserved area or low-income community and who |
|
|
leaves employment with the district after the two-year commitment |
|
|
is not considered for purposes of reporting teacher turnover |
|
|
information under Subsection (e)(3). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016 |
|
|
school year. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
