The Senate Committee on Business and Commerce will convene at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday April 2nd, 2013, in room E1.016 of the Capitol Extension to take up the following bills for consideration as new business:

 

SB 582        Davis                  
Relating to swimming pool alarms and exit alarms for certain single-family homes; providing a civil penalty.

SB 598        Birdwell               
Relating to restrictions on holders of package store permits.

SB 875        Eltife                 
Relating to the purchase of plastic bulk merchandise containers by certain businesses; providing a civil penalty.

SB 1004       Carona                 
Relating to the regulation of residential mortgage loan originators, residential mortgage loan companies, mortgage bankers, and residential mortgage loan servicers under the jurisdiction of the Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending; changing a fee.

SB 1040       Taylor                 
Relating to automated dial announcing devices.

SB 1090       Carona                 
Relating to the manufacture, distribution, sale, and provision of alcoholic beverages and the regulation of those activities.

SB 1120       West                   
Relating to a residential tenant's lease obligation after the loss of the leased premises resulting from a natural disaster.

SB 1250       Carona                 
Relating to the creation of an office of regulatory best practices in the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and the evaluation by the office of proposals by members of the legislature to regulate occupations.

SB 1372       Hinojosa               
Relating to the powers and duties of timeshare owners' associations.

SB 1622       Duncan                 
Relating to credit to certain ceding insurers for reinsurance ceded to certain certified assuming insurers.

SB 1639       Carona | et al.        
Relating to the application of foreign law and foreign forum selection in certain family law proceedings.

SB 1665       Carona                 
Relating to the deposit of assessments and fees collected for examination expenses.

SB 1666       Carona                 
Relating to the regulation of amusement rides.

SB 1672       Taylor                 
Relating to the business of travel insurance; authorizing penalties.

SJR 48        Carona                 
Proposing a constitutional amendment to require a member of the legislature to obtain and file a report on the costs and benefits of a bill or amendment to impose or increase an occupational regulation.

At the Chair's discretion, the Committee may also consider any pending business.

 

Written testimony of any length is welcome, please submit to the Committee staff 15 copies with your name and the bill number on each copy of the written testimony. Please provide an electronic version of written testimony at your earliest convenience. Please limit oral remarks to three minutes.
