Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on State Affairs was held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.012, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 8:02 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

Senator Estes called invited witnesses to provide testimony on the interim charge related to the transparency of the Senate website. Witnesses testifying on this interim charge are shown on the attached list.

 

Senator Estes called invited witnesses to provide testimony on the interim charge related to a citizen’s ability to know what data is being collected about them by governmental and commercial entities. Witnesses testifying on this interim charge are shown on the attached list.

 

Senator Estes called invited witnesses to provide testimony on the interim charge related to the protection of personal privacy from governmental and commercial surveillance. Witnesses testifying on this interim charge are shown on the attached list.

 

Senator Estes called invited witnesses to provide testimony on the interim charge related to the types and scope of personal data collected by governmental and commercial entities. Witnesses testifying on this interim charge are shown on the attached list.

 

There being no further business, at 11:22 AM Senator Estes moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
