Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Higher Education Committee was held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.012, at Austin, Texas.

The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

Senator West moved adoption of the committee rules. There being no objection, it was so ordered.

 

The Chair made opening remarks.

 

The Chair introduced the following Higher Education staff; Mark Kavanaugh, Committee Director; Sarah Willcox, Committee Clerk; Sean Opperman and Trevin Franklin, Policy Analysts; and Anthony LeClair, Policy Intern.

 

The Chair then invited committee members to introduce their respective Higher Education staff. Accordingly, Senator Zaffirini introduced Tracy Ballysingh, Senator West, Susie Strzelec; Senator Watson, Susan Nold; and Senator Birdwell, Spencer Harris.

 

There being no further business, at 9:05 AM Senator Seliger moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
