Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Education was held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, in the Senate Chamber.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:18 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

Other Senators attending: Senator Wendy Davis, Senator Rodney Ellis, Senator Kelly Hancock.

 

Senator Dan Patrick made opening remarks to the committee.

 

Senator Dan Patrick recognized The Honorable Jeb Bush, Governor of Florida 1999-2007, as being present and welcomed him.

 

Senator Dan Patrick called the following invited witnesses to provide testimony on national best practices in education reform. See attached list.

 

No public testimony was taken.

 

There being no further business, at 10:55 AM Senator Dan Patrick moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
