WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Robert Griffin III for his many outstanding
  achievements; and
         WHEREAS, Robert is the quarterback of the Washington
  Redskins of the National Football League; he was the second
  overall pick of the 2012 draft after a stellar career at Baylor
  University that saw him set or tie 54 school records; and
         WHEREAS, He was named the winner of the 2011 Heisman
  Trophy, given annually to the most outstanding player in college
  football; he led the 2011 Bears to a record of 10-3 and the
  school's first bowl victory in 19 years, and he was a consensus
  all-American and the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year; and
         WHEREAS, Blessed with a combination of speed, arm
  strength and passing accuracy, and a cerebral approach to the
  game, he has continued to be successful in the National
  Football League, leading the Washington Redskins to a playoff
  berth as a rookie; and
         WHEREAS, Robert is respected and admired by fans, teammates,
  and opponents alike; he handles himself with great dignity and is a
  wonderful role model, and it is truly fitting that he be recognized
  for his accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, hereby commend Robert Griffin III on his exemplary
  accomplishments and extend to him best wishes for continued
  success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
