SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 314
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Robert Griffin III for his many outstanding |
|
|
achievements; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Robert is the quarterback of the Washington |
|
|
Redskins of the National Football League; he was the second |
|
|
overall pick of the 2012 draft after a stellar career at Baylor |
|
|
University that saw him set or tie 54 school records; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was named the winner of the 2011 Heisman |
|
|
Trophy, given annually to the most outstanding player in college |
|
|
football; he led the 2011 Bears to a record of 10-3 and the |
|
|
school's first bowl victory in 19 years, and he was a consensus |
|
|
all-American and the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Blessed with a combination of speed, arm |
|
|
strength and passing accuracy, and a cerebral approach to the |
|
|
game, he has continued to be successful in the National |
|
|
Football League, leading the Washington Redskins to a playoff |
|
|
berth as a rookie; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Robert is respected and admired by fans, teammates, |
|
|
and opponents alike; he handles himself with great dignity and is a |
|
|
wonderful role model, and it is truly fitting that he be recognized |
|
|
for his accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Robert Griffin III on his exemplary |
|
|
accomplishments and extend to him best wishes for continued |
|
|
success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
