A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to educational materials on pardons for victims of |
|
|
trafficking of persons. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 48.06, Criminal Procedure Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 48.06. EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS FOR VICTIMS OF |
|
|
TRAFFICKING OF PERSONS. |
|
|
(a) The Board of Pardons and Paroles shall develop |
|
|
educational materials describing the application process for a |
|
|
pardon specifically targeting victims of trafficking of persons who |
|
|
have an offense on their record that occurred as a result of being |
|
|
trafficked. |
|
|
(b) The educational materials described by Subsection (a) |
|
|
must be available on the board's Internet website. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
