A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the registration of token trailers. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 502.255(i), Transportation Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(i) The department shall [may] issue specially designed |
|
|
nonexpiring license plates for token trailers. The nonexpiring |
|
|
license plate shall remain displayed on the token trailer until the |
|
|
trailer is sold or removed from service or the license plate is not |
|
|
legible. The department shall provide for a person to register a |
|
|
token trailer under this section on the department's Internet |
|
|
website. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles shall |
|
|
adopt rules for the administration of Section 502.255(i), |
|
|
Transportation Code, as amended by this Act, as soon as practicable |
|
|
after this Act takes effect. For that purpose, the department may |
|
|
adopt the rules in the manner provided by law for emergency rules. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
