AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the disbursement of county funds to a person owing |
|
|
delinquent property taxes. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 154.025, Local |
|
|
Government Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) In this section, "debt" includes delinquent taxes, |
|
|
fines, fees, and indebtedness arising from written agreements with |
|
|
the county. The term includes delinquent property taxes whether |
|
|
reduced to judgment or not. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Subsection (a), Section 154.045, Local |
|
|
Government Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) In this section, "debt" includes delinquent taxes, |
|
|
fines, fees, and indebtedness arising from written agreements with |
|
|
the county. The term includes delinquent property taxes whether |
|
|
reduced to judgment or not. |
|
|
SECTION 3. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to |
|
|
debt for which a notice of indebtedness is filed under Subsection |
|
|
(b), Section 154.025, or Subsection (b), Section 154.045, Local |
|
|
Government Code, on or after the effective date of this Act. Debt |
|
|
for which notice of indebtedness is filed before the effective date |
|
|
of this Act is governed by the law in effect when the notice was |
|
|
filed, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
