R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Harold Truman Baber, Jr., of Houston, a devoted |
|
family physician for 40 years, passed away on July 3, 2012, at the |
|
age of 69; and |
|
WHEREAS, Harold Baber was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, on |
|
October 17, 1942, to Harold Truman Baber, Sr., and Frances Baber; a |
|
graduate of Hendrix College, he earned his medical degree from the |
|
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine in |
|
1968 and completed his internship at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical |
|
Center in Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, While serving overseas as a doctor with the United |
|
States Air Force, he met his future wife, Rosalind, a nurse, in |
|
London; the couple were married in Houston at St. Luke's United |
|
Methodist Church on December 18, 1971, and subsequently went into |
|
practice together at Houston Northwest Medical Center; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Baber was a lifetime member and a former vice |
|
president of the Harris County Medical Society, and he led the |
|
organization's ethics committee from 1986 to 1989; he further |
|
contributed to his profession through his involvement in the |
|
American Academy of Family Physicians and the Texas Medical |
|
Association; he demonstrated great compassion toward his patients |
|
over the years, and he was deeply missed after his early retirement |
|
in 2011; and |
|
WHEREAS, An avid traveler, Dr. Baber enjoyed exploring |
|
Europe, South America, Asia, and his wife's native New Zealand, and |
|
he relished time outdoors golfing and hunting; he was a man of |
|
strong faith and a valued congregant of St. Luke's United Methodist |
|
Church for more than four decades; he and his wife were blessed with |
|
two children, Jonathan and Roseanna, as well as a granddaughter, |
|
Isabelle; and |
|
WHEREAS, Harold Baber made a positive difference in the lives |
|
of numerous people, and those he leaves behind will forever cherish |
|
their memories of this kind and caring man; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. Harold Truman |
|
Baber, Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |
|
family: to his wife, Rosalind Baber; to his children, Jonathan |
|
Baber and Roseanna Baber Hill and her husband, Jason; to his |
|
granddaughter, Isabelle Hill; to his mother, Frances Louise Spivey |
|
Baber; to his sister, Helen Dunn; and to his other relatives and |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Harold |
|
Truman Baber, Jr. |
