         WHEREAS, The Denison Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated its
  100th anniversary on February 12, 2012; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1912 by five businessmen, the Denison
  Area Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to supporting local
  businesses and fostering a competitive economic environment in the
  area; the group sponsors a leadership academy, offers professional
  development seminars and networking opportunities, and supports
  efforts to retain and recruit industry; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to encouraging economic prosperity, the
  chamber partners with other groups to help make the city an even
  better place in which to live; it works with the school district on
  scholastic improvement and educational awareness, and it promotes
  tourism and sponsors numerous recreational events for youth;
  moreover, the chamber's board played an important role in the
  creation of Lake Texoma, and its recommendation to introduce
  striped bass into the reservoir has resulted in an exciting sport
  fishing attraction that regularly draws enthusiastic anglers; and
         WHEREAS, For a century, the Denison Area Chamber of Commerce
  has worked to encourage economic growth and enhance the quality of
  life for area residents, and it is a pleasure to commend this
  dynamic organization for its leadership and commitment; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Denison
  Area Chamber of Commerce and extend sincere best wishes for
  continued success to its members and staff; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
