R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
  mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Russell and Linda Rau
  of Eustace celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on
  August 11, 2012; and
         WHEREAS, After meeting at a Sadie Hawkins Day dance at the
  State University College for Teachers at Buffalo in 1959, Mr. and
  Mrs. Rau were joined in matrimony in 1962 at a ceremony held at
  Kenmore United Methodist Church in Buffalo, New York; through the
  years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes
  two children and their spouses, Donald and his wife, Donna, and
  Kristine and her husband, Stephen, as well as their grandchildren,
  Erica, Marc, Scott, Shannon, Brandon, and Joshua, and their
  great-grandchildren, Kelsy and Nora; and
         WHEREAS, The couple lived for many years in upstate New York,
  where Mr. Rau taught mechanical drawing and graphic arts at Medina
  Senior High School for 32 years and Mrs. Rau taught kindergarten for
  26 years; active members of their community, Mr. Rau served as a
  councilman and town supervisor for the town of Ridgeway, as a
  scoutmaster, and as a member of the Lee-Whedon Memorial Library
  board, while Mrs. Rau volunteered at the library and performed with
  the Sweet Adelines singing group; since retiring to Texas in 1995,
  the couple have been active with Meals on Wheels, Habitat for
  Humanity, and the Kiwanis Club of Cedar Creek Lake; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Rau have enjoyed five decades of
  abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an
  exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
  commitment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Russell and Linda Rau on their 50th
  wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Rau as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
