R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Labor of Love is a Henderson County organization of
  volunteers who work to provide house repairs for homeowners in
  need; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1986, Labor of Love was originally
  inspired by Habitat for Humanity; following a trip sponsored by
  that organization, members of the First Christian Church created
  the Athens Samaritans in an effort to assist residents who can no
  longer maintain their homes due to their age, disabilities, or
  other circumstances beyond their control; and
         WHEREAS, This United Way agency now benefits from the
  assistance of congregants from the First Presbyterian, First United
  Methodist, and First Baptist Churches; the association also works
  with the Boy Scouts, student groups from Trinity Valley Community
  College, Young Life, 4-H, and local businesses to expand its
  outreach efforts; and
         WHEREAS, Labor of Love participants have repaired countless
  area houses; with the help of donations from the community, more
  than 180 projects were completed in 2011 alone, including the
  construction of 45 wheelchair ramps; and
         WHEREAS, During the past quarter-century, Labor of Love has
  made a positive difference in the lives of many Henderson County
  citizens, and it is a pleasure to pay tribute to all those who have
  worked to make this worthwhile venture a success; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Labor of Love for its contributions to the
  community and commend all involved for their dedication and
  achievements; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
