A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to an accident resulting in the possible death or injury of
  a person.
 
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 551.021(a), Transportation Code, is
  amended to read as follows:
         (a)  The operator of a vehicle involved in an accident
  resulting in injury to or death of a person, or the possible injury
  to or death of a person shall:
               (1)  immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the
  accident or as close to the scene as possible;
               (2)  immediately return to the scene of the accident;
               (3)  immediately determine if a person is involved in
  the accident, and if that person requires aid, and
               (4)  remain at the scene of the accident until the
  operator complies with the requirements of Section 550.023.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
