A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the applicability of certain claims for lost or damaged |
|
|
property by inmates to the Texas Theft Liability Act. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 134, Civil Practice and Remedies Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 134.0025 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 134.0025. APPLICABILITY. This chapter does not apply |
|
|
to a claim made by an inmate housed in a facility operated by the |
|
|
Texas Department of Criminal Justice for property lost or damaged |
|
|
by the institutional division of the department. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
