AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to eligibility of certain persons for enrollment in school |
|
|
district summer school courses. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 25, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 25.008 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 25.008. ENROLLMENT IN SUMMER SCHOOL COURSE BY PERSON |
|
|
NOT ENROLLED IN DISTRICT. (a) Except as provided by Subsection |
|
|
(b), a school district shall permit a person who is eligible under |
|
|
Section 25.001 to attend school in the district but who is not |
|
|
enrolled in school in the district to enroll in a district summer |
|
|
school course on the same basis as a district student, including: |
|
|
(1) satisfaction of any course eligibility |
|
|
requirement; and |
|
|
(2) payment of any fee authorized under Section 11.158 |
|
|
that is charged in connection with the course. |
|
|
(b) Subsection (a) does not apply to enrollment in a program |
|
|
under Section 29.088, 29.090, or 29.098 or in a similar intensive |
|
|
program. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
