A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the date by which a voter's registration becomes |
|
|
effective. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 13.143, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
|
|
(f) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, an |
|
|
applicant's registration is effective on election day if: |
|
|
(1) the applicant's registration application is |
|
|
approved; |
|
|
(2) the applicant submitted the application not later |
|
|
than the 14th day before the first day of early voting by personal |
|
|
appearance for that election; and |
|
|
(3) the applicant will be 18 years of age or older on |
|
|
election day. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
