SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 17
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Teleton USA for its exemplary work in the field of
  children's health care; and
 
         WHEREAS, Teleton USA is a nonprofit foundation dedicated
  to serving children with neuromusculoskeletal disabilities,
  cancer, and autism through comprehensive rehabilitation; it
  promotes the children's full development and inclusion in
  society and works to effect change in their lives and in the lives
  of the people around them; and
 
         WHEREAS, To further its goals, the organization will build
  and operate Children's Rehabilitation Centers across the
  country; these facilities will resemble the more than 20 centers
  operated by Teleton Mexico, which has given its full support to
  the United States efforts; and
 
         WHEREAS, The initial American center will be built in San
  Antonio and will accommodate up to 600 children, with fees based
  upon the family's ability to pay; a team of doctors, therapists,
  and counselors will develop a treatment plan for each child that
  relies upon the involvement of the child's entire family; and
 
         WHEREAS, Teleton USA can make a profound difference in the
  lives of children and it is truly deserving of recognition as it
  begins its work in the United States; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Teleton USA on
  its outstanding work on behalf of children and extend best wishes
  for success in all its endeavors; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas
  Senate.
