SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 6
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the annual Hillsboro Cotton Pickin' Fair and Barbecue
  Cook-off; and
         WHEREAS, Hosted by the Hillsboro Main Street Program, this
  annual fair in downtown Hillsboro includes entertainment, arts
  and crafts, and horseshoe and washer tournaments in addition to
  the barbecue cook-off; and
         WHEREAS, The barbecue cook-off is a Texas State Barbecue
  Championship competition, and its winner will qualify for the
  American Royal Invitational in Kansas City, Missouri, and for
  other prestigious cook-offs; the event is sanctioned by the
  International Barbeque Cookers Association and annually draws
  over 5,000 people in attendance; and
         WHEREAS, The proceeds from this outstanding event benefit
  the Hillsboro Main Street Program, which began in 1981 as one of
  the original five Texas Main Street programs; Hillsboro Main
  Street is dedicated to the revitalization of the downtown
  Hillsboro commercial district using the program's four point
  approach, which incorporates design, organization, promotion,
  and economic restructuring; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the Hillsboro
  Main Street Program for its continued support of historic
  preservation in downtown Hillsboro and extend best wishes for a
  successful and memorable Hillsboro Cotton Pickin' Fair; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the Hillsboro Main Street Program as an expression of high regard
  from the Texas Senate.
