SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 21
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	recognize Praise Deliverance Church of Houston on the occasion of
	its Sixth Year Building Anniversary Celebration; and
	WHEREAS, Praise Deliverance Church was founded by Dr. Carolyn
	Boyd Sion; the church began its outreach in the shelter of a tent,
	but in 2007 moved into a building, where its ministries could
	flourish and better play a role in the life of the Fifth Ward
	community; the theme of this year's celebration is "From the
	Wilderness to the Promised Land"; and
	WHEREAS, Since its inception, the church has ministered to
	the temporal and spiritual needs of countless people; it has
	become an invaluable source of strength for church members during
	times of hardship and bereavement and a place of fellowship
	during times of abundance and celebration; and
	WHEREAS, Praise Deliverance Church also offers the community
	an array of social services, including counseling, literary classes,
	food assistance, and a program to help reunite ex-offenders with
	their families; and
	WHEREAS, The celebration of this anniversary is a reflection
	of the church's enduring commitment to providing enlightenment and
	hope to its members; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
	Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend best wishes to
	the clergy and congregation of Praise Deliverance Church on the
	joyous occasion of its Sixth Year Building Anniversary Celebration;
	and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	the church as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
