R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Anne Acuna is stepping down as director of chamber
  relations of the Farmers Branch Chamber of Commerce in August 2013
  after serving for more than six years with that organization; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Northern California, Ms. Acuna earned
  her bachelor's degree from the University of San Francisco; she
  went on to work in Silicon Valley and then as an entrepreneur; in
  2001, she moved to Texas, where she worked in franchise development
  and founded HLA Associates, a project management consulting firm;
  and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Acuna has been active with the chamber's youth
  leadership and junior chamber ambassador programs, and she has
  served as a business advisory member of Mosaic, which serves people
  with disabilities; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of strong religious faith, Ms. Acuna is a
  youth minister at the Filipino American Alliance Church in
  Arlington, and in 2006, she founded the HLA Missions/Scholarship
  fund to promote community outreach projects and higher education in
  the Philippines; and
         WHEREAS, Following her departure from the chamber of
  commerce, Ms. Acuna will be moving to the island of Rota in the U.S.
  Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands to work at Grace
  Christian Academy; and
         WHEREAS, Anne Acuna's dedication, initiative, and commitment
  to serving others have greatly benefited the community of Farmers
  Branch, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her years with the
  chamber of commerce as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of
  her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Anne Acuna for her
  achievements with the Farmers Branch Chamber of Commerce and extend
  to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness and success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Acuna as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
