R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The 85th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly
  cause for celebration, and Oscar Beasley of San Antonio is marking
  this noteworthy milestone in his life on July 31, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, A proud military veteran, Mr. Beasley spent 20 years
  as a communications specialist in the U.S. Air Force and attained
  the rank of technical sergeant; after returning to civilian life in
  1973, he went on to pursue a second career as a schoolteacher in the
  San Antonio Independent School District, a vocation to which he
  brought a deep commitment and an inexhaustible enthusiasm; he
  retired from full-time teaching in 1988 but continued to work as a
  substitute until 2006; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Beasley is blessed with the love and support of
  his wife of nearly 65 years, Ruth Beasley, and their two children;
  sustained as well by his deep faith, he is a valued member of Grace
  First Baptist Church, where he formerly served as an usher, and he
  has contributed to his community through his 15-year involvement in
  the Cellular on Patrol program and through his work as a board
  member of the Meadow Village Neighborhood Association; and
         WHEREAS, Oscar Beasley is an inspiring role model to many,
  and his 85th birthday offers a fitting opportunity to honor him for
  his exemplary career, his devoted service to his country and his
  community, and the cherished place he holds in the hearts of his
  friends and loved ones; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Oscar Beasley
  on his 85th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Beasley as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
