Frank Dannenberg, Jr. |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Frank Dannenberg, |
|
Jr., who died in May of 2013 at the age of 65; and |
|
WHEREAS, Frank Dannenberg was born on July 16, 1947, in |
|
Havana, Cuba; he immigrated to the United States in 1960 and |
|
graduated from Coral Gables High School in Coral Gables, Florida; |
|
he earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration |
|
from the University of Miami in 1979 and later earned a Texas |
|
teaching certificate in 1993; and |
|
WHEREAS, Frank married his beloved wife, Betty, on July 16, |
|
1976, and they were blessed with three children and four |
|
grandchildren; he was a man of many talents and interests who |
|
became a treasured citizen and a highly respected leader in the |
|
San Antonio community; and |
|
WHEREAS, He had a longtime successful and rewarding career |
|
as an educator; he served as a schoolteacher in the San Antonio |
|
Independent School District for 19 years and was beloved by his |
|
students and by his colleagues in his profession; he also taught |
|
at Saint Philip's College in the Alamo Community College |
|
District; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 2005, he began his volunteer service with the |
|
United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for District Eight, Coastal |
|
Region, otherwise known as the Guardians of the Gulf; he was |
|
admired for his dedication to his many responsibilities as an |
|
officer and to the auxiliary's wide variety of missions and |
|
assignments; and |
|
WHEREAS, He was noted for his service as chairman of the |
|
National Safe Boating Week events and for the time and energy he |
|
devoted to raising public awareness of the need for safe boating |
|
practices; he was also a loyal participant in the San Antonio |
|
Fiesta Parade, where he represented the Coast Guard Auxiliary |
|
with pride; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Dannenberg took part in numerous |
|
organizations and community events; he was actively involved |
|
with Little League and was a member of the Knights of Columbus; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, He loved the outdoors and all kinds of fishing, |
|
and he enjoyed watercolor painting, weightlifting, dancing, |
|
meditation, softball, football, and yoga; he had a great love of |
|
animals and a deep appreciation for the earth's beauty and all of |
|
life's gifts; he also had an engaging personality and a sense of |
|
humor that endeared him to all who met him; and |
|
WHEREAS, A truly exemplary gentleman, Mr. Dannenberg was a |
|
warm, generous, kindhearted person who was respected for his many |
|
accomplishments and for his commitment to helping his fellow man |
|
in whatever ways he could; and |
|
WHEREAS, Frank Dannenberg gave unselfishly to others and |
|
was beloved by all who knew him, and he will long be remembered |
|
with affection and appreciation by those who were privileged to |
|
share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere |
|
condolences to the bereaved family of Frank Dannenberg, Jr.; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the |
|
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do |
|
so in memory of Frank Dannenberg. |
