SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 23
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Robert Lee Powell
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Robert Lee Powell,
  who died May 3, 2013, at the age of 68; and
         WHEREAS, Bob Powell was born November 23, 1944, in Dallas;
  he lived in Detroit, Chicago, and Atlanta while growing up and
  earned a bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University
  and a master's degree from DePaul University; he served the
  nation with distinction in the United States Army as a first
  lieutenant in Vietnam and earned a Purple Heart and two Bronze
  Stars; and
         WHEREAS, He enjoyed a fulfilling, 30-year career with
  Merrill Lynch and Company, Incorporated, and attained membership
  in the prestigious Merrill Lynch Quarter Century Club; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Powell was deeply devoted to numerous
  charitable organizations, including the All Church Home for
  Children, the Tarrant County Food Bank, the Presbyterian Night
  Shelter, and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
  of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, He and his wife, Nancy, were mainstays of the Fort
  Worth art and social scenes, and he participated in numerous
  Junior Woman's Club spring shows; and
         WHEREAS, He was a man of many interests and talents whose
  eternal optimism, generous spirit, and enthusiasm for living
  each day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband to his wife, Nancy, a
  loving father to his daughters, Haley and Amanda, and an adoring
  grandfather to his grandson, Jackson, and he leaves behind
  memories that will be treasured forever by his family and his
  many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere
  condolences to the bereaved family of Robert Lee Powell; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Robert Lee Powell.
