R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Emily Akers graduated as salutatorian of the senior |
|
|
class of Poteet High School on May 31, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only |
|
|
intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the |
|
|
highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, |
|
|
Ms. Akers demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of |
|
|
subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted to |
|
|
her studies are myriad; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Ms. Akers has generously |
|
|
volunteered her time to such worthwhile causes as the National |
|
|
Honor Society Blood Drive and the First Baptist Church Fall |
|
|
Festival; she plans to continue her education at Texas A&M |
|
|
University and study civil engineering; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Emily Akers has |
|
|
earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and classmates at |
|
|
Poteet High School, and her exceptional scholastic ability, hard |
|
|
work, and commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless |
|
|
opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be |
|
|
it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Emily Akers, |
|
|
salutatorian of the Poteet High School Class of 2013, and extend to |
|
|
her sincere best wishes for continued success as she begins the next |
|
|
exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Akers as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
