R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Emily Akers graduated as salutatorian of the senior
  class of Poteet High School on May 31, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only
  intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
  highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction,
  Ms. Akers demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of
  subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted to
  her studies are myriad; and
         WHEREAS, Active in her community, Ms. Akers has generously
  volunteered her time to such worthwhile causes as the National
  Honor Society Blood Drive and the First Baptist Church Fall
  Festival; she plans to continue her education at Texas A&M
  University and study civil engineering; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Emily Akers has
  earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and classmates at
  Poteet High School, and her exceptional scholastic ability, hard
  work, and commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless
  opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Emily Akers,
  salutatorian of the Poteet High School Class of 2013, and extend to
  her sincere best wishes for continued success as she begins the next
  exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Akers as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
