NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Senate Committee on Business & Commerce will meet at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in Room E1.016 of the Texas Capitol Extension. The Committee will take invited and public testimony on the interim study charge "Analyze the state of the telecommunications market in Texas, including the costs and benefits of full deregulation of the market; the impact and viability of the Texas Universal Service Fund and Provider of Last Resort requirements; the impact of SB 980, Regular Session, 82nd Legislature, relating to telecommunications regulation and rulemaking; the availability of broadband; telecommunications service discounts; and rights-of- way charges. Make recommendations to enhance services, support the industry, and ensure adequate and affordable access for consumers." NOTE: The Committee intends to take up the Universal Service Fund portion of this charge at a later hearing.

 

WITNESSES: please provide testimony and exhibits in electronic format as soon as possible, preferably no later than Thursday before the hearing to allow time for posting online. All witnesses are requested to limit oral remarks to three minutes and are welcome to submit written testimony of any length and content, electronic format preferred.
