Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with HCR 63, a public hearing of the Joint Interim Committee to Study the Public School Finance System was held on Thursday, May 17, 2012, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.030, in Austin, Texas.

Joint chair Senator Florence Shapiro called the meeting to order at 9:08 AM. There being

a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

Other legislators attending:  Representative Mark Strama.

 

Senator Shapiro and Representative Aycock, as Joint Chairs, shared presiding duties throughout the hearing.

 

Senator Shapiro, Representative Aycock, and appointed members made opening remarks to the Committee.

 

Senator Nelson moved adoption of the committee rules. There being no objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Shapiro called the following invited witnesses to provide testimony. See attached list.

 

At 10:21 AM Representative Aycock assumed the chair.

 

At 10:24 AM Senator Shapiro resumed the chair.

 

At 12:05 PM Representative Aycock assumed the chair.

 

At 12:09 PM Senator Shapiro resumed the chair. 

 

Senator Shapiro moved that the invited testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.   

 

No public testimony was taken.

 

There being no further business, at 12:26 PM Senator Shapiro moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Joint Chairs. Without objection, it was so ordered.
