Pursuant to a notice posted on February 23, 2012,
the Joint Interim Committee to Study Human Trafficking met in a public hearing
and was called to order by the co-chair, Senator Van de Putte, at 10:36 a.m.
The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives
Burkett; Fletcher; Frullo; Gonzalez, Naomi; Hunter; Munoz, Jr.; Riddle;
Senators Van de Putte; Huffman; and Shapiro.
A quorum was present.
Senator Van de Putte,
co-chair, welcomed everyone and gave opening remarks.

(Representative Thompson in chair.)
Representative Thompson, co-chair, welcomed
everyone, gave opening remarks and introduced House committee staff.
Representative Thompson recognized Senator Van de
Putte for introduction of Senate committee staff.
Representative Thompson, co-chair, laid out the
rules for the Joint Interim Committee to Study Human Trafficking.
Representative Fletcher moved that the rules be
adopted. There being no objection, the
rules were adopted.
Representative Thompson, co-chair, recognized
Representative Hunter for an announcement.
Representative Thompson, co-chair, announced to the
witnesses that by signing the witness affirmation forms they agreed to give
their testimony under oath.
