Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 20, 2011, and being granted permission on May 20, 2011 to meet while the House was in session,  the committee on Public Education met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Eissler, at 11:57 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Eissler; Hochberg; Allen; Aycock; Dutton; Guillen; Huberty; Shelton; Smith, Todd; Strama; and Weber.

 

A quorum was present.


 

SB 1581

 

The chair laid out SB 1581.

 

Representative Shelton offered an amendment to the measure.

 

The amendment was adopted without objection.

 

The chair directed the staff to incorporate the amendment into a committee substitute.

 

Representative Shelton offered a committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Shelton moved that SB 1581, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Eissler; Aycock; Huberty; Shelton; Smith, Todd; Weber (6).

 

Nays:                           Representatives Hochberg; Allen; Guillen; Strama (4).

 

Present, Not Voting:   Representative Dutton (1).

 

Absent:                        None (0).

 

At 12:18 a.m., May 21, 2011, on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
