Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 19, 2011, the House Committee on Public Education was given permission to meet while the House was in session on May 19, 2011.  The Public Education Committee met on May 19, 2011, in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Eissler, at 5:07 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Eissler; Hochberg; Allen; Aycock; Guillen; Huberty; Shelton; Strama; and Weber.

 

A quorum was present.


 

SB 290

 

The chair laid out SB 290.

 

The chair recognized Representative Hernandez Luna to explain SB 290.

 

Representative Shelton moved that SB 290, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
