Pursuant to a notice posted on November 5, 2012, the House Committee on Manufacturing, Interim met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Murphy, at 9:15 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Murphy; Rodriguez, Eddie; Button; Frullo; Kuempel; Lavender; Munoz, Jr.; and Sheets.

 

A quorum was present.

 

Chairman Murphy called the meeting to order and welcomed those present and described the purpose of the meeting to discuss taxes, incentives, and regulations as related to manufacturing in Texas.

Chairman Murphy called the first panel to testify.

Invited testimony was taken from the first panel of witnesses; Dale Craymer, Texas Taxpayer and Research Association, Andy Ellard, NFIB Texas, Manda Machine Co., and Bill Hammond, Texas Association of Business.

(Representative Parker now present.)

 

Invited testimony was taken from the second panel of witnesses; Chad Burke, Economic Alliance Houston Port Region, (Representative Parker in chair.) Pete Riley, Bell Helicopter, (Representative Murphy in chair.) and Michael Bartlett, Vital Art and Science Incorporated.

 

Public testimony was taken from Paul Mayer, Garland Economic Development Partnership, Dallas County Manufacturers Association.

Chairman Murphy moved that public testimony be closed. With no objections, it was so ordered.

At 12:02 p.m., on the motion of Representative Murphy and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
