Pursuant to a notice posted on June 1, 2012, the House Committee on Energy Resources met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Keffer, at 9:07 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Keffer; Crownover; Carter; Howard, Charlie; Lozano; and Sheffield.

 

A quorum was present.

 

The Committee met in a joint hearing with the House Natural Resources Committee.

 

The Energy Resources Committee heard testimony on Interim Charge #5 - In addition to monitoring the implementation of HB 3328 (82R), continue to study the implications of hydraulic fracturing for the state's energy needs, environmental policy, economic development, and other related priorities. Examine ways to ensure appropriate state and local regulation of hydraulic fracturing that matches the needs and conditions of Texas. Coordinate with the House Committee on Natural Resources' charge regarding water quantity and quality issues in oil and gas production, and with other committees, as necessary.
