Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 19, 2011 with permission granted  on May 19, 2011 to meet while the House is in session, the House Committee on Elections met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Taylor, Larry, at 12:27 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Taylor, Larry; Hernandez Luna; Berman; Branch; Burkett; Farias; and Isaac.

 

A quorum was present.

 

SB 997

 

The chair laid out SB 997 as pending business.

 

Representative Berman moved that SB 997, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Taylor, Larry; Hernandez Luna; Berman; Branch; Farias; Isaac (6).

 

Nays:                           Representative Burkett (1).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

 

Absent:                        Representatives King, Phil; Veasey (2).

 

SJR 37

 

The chair laid out SJR 37 as pending business.

 

Representative Isaac moved that SJR 37, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Taylor, Larry; Hernandez Luna; Berman; Branch; Burkett; Farias; Isaac (7).

 

Nays:                           None (0).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

 

Absent:                        Representatives King, Phil; Veasey (2).

 

 

 

At 12:29 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
