SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 557
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay
	tribute to Lyle and Coleen McGuffin of Kerrville, who recently
	took joy in observing two special events in their lives; and
	WHEREAS, Lyle and Coleen McGuffin celebrated their 75th
	wedding anniversary on November 24, 2010, and Lyle's 100th
	birthday on January 14, 2011; and
	WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably since Lyle's
	birth in 1911 and his and Coleen's marriage in 1935; they have
	been privileged to witness events together that many people can
	only read about in history books; and
	WHEREAS, They have enjoyed a wonderful life and attribute
	much of their marital success and happiness to the day in 1967
	that they were baptized and became members of the Church of
	Christ; and
	WHEREAS, Lyle was nearly 60 years old when he decided to
	attend South African Bible College and become a missionary;
	several years into his new life's mission, Lyle became ill and
	the couple returned to the states to deal with his health
	problem; and
	WHEREAS, Lyle and Coleen then took up end-of-life care for
	a family member and were not able to return to the field as
	missionaries; however, they never stopped ministering, teaching
	Bible class, translating the Bible, and giving of their time and
	energy to others; and
	WHEREAS, Lyle and Coleen McGuffin are beloved and
	respected members of the Kerrville community, and they deserve
	recognition for the exemplary lives they have lived and their
	selfless service; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
	Legislature, hereby congratulate Lyle and Coleen McGuffin on
	reaching these milestones in their lives and recognize both Lyle
	and Coleen as treasured citizens of this state; and, be it
	further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	this distinguished couple as an expression of esteem from the
	Texas Senate.
