SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 59
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	recognize Reverend Delbert Ray Jefferson and First Lady Minnie J.
	Jefferson for 25 years of outstanding service to Christian Home
	Missionary Baptist Church; and
	WHEREAS, Reverend and Mrs. Jefferson began their service
	to Christian Home Missionary Baptist Church on February 2, 1986,
	following in the footsteps of such leaders as founding pastor
	Reverend Benjamin Leroy and subsequent pastors Reverend Lucious
	Basil Tolson and Reverend Mitchell W. Moore; and
	WHEREAS, Under Reverend and Mrs. Jefferson's guidance and
	leadership, the church has continued to grow and to play a vital
	role in the life of the Third Ward community; communion service
	was instituted at the 11:00 a.m. worship services and a
	churchwide observance of Black History was initiated; and
	WHEREAS, Reverend Jefferson has instituted measures to
	keep the church on a sound financial footing, creating a building
	fund, which offset all costs of building a new fellowship hall,
	and solidifying the process of setting the church's annual
	budget; and
	WHEREAS, Inspirational and dedicated to helping others,
	this beloved pastor has devoted his time and energy selflessly to
	his congregation and the people of the Third Ward; an
	accomplished scholar and theologian, he has had a profound
	influence on the lives of countless people; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
	Legislature, hereby commend Reverend Delbert Ray Jefferson and
	First Lady Minnie J. Jefferson on their years of exemplary
	service to Christian Home Missionary Baptist Church and extend to
	them best wishes for continued success in all their future
	endeavors; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	this distinguished couple as an expression of esteem from the
	Texas Senate.
