AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the clarification of terminology relating to the Waco |
|
|
Center for Youth. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 554.001, Health and |
|
|
Safety Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) The department shall use the Waco Center for Youth as a |
|
|
residential treatment facility for emotionally disturbed juveniles |
|
|
who: |
|
|
(1) have been admitted [committed] under Subtitle C to |
|
|
a facility of the department; or |
|
|
(2) are under the managing conservatorship of the |
|
|
Department of Family and Protective [and Regulatory] Services and |
|
|
have been admitted [committed] under Subtitle C to the Waco Center |
|
|
for Youth. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Subsection |
|
|
(a), Section 554.001, Health and Safety Code, is a clarification of |
|
|
existing law and does not imply that the former law may be construed |
|
|
as inconsistent with the law as amended by this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
