AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the state fire marshal's investigation of the death of a |
|
|
firefighter who dies in the line of duty or in connection with an |
|
|
on-duty incident. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subsection (b), Section 417.0075, Government |
|
|
Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(b) If a firefighter dies in the line of duty or if the |
|
|
firefighter's death occurs in connection with an on-duty [a
|
|
|
fire-fighting] incident in this state, the state fire marshal shall |
|
|
investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the |
|
|
firefighter, including any [the cause and origin of the fire, the
|
|
|
condition of the structure, and the suppression operation, to
|
|
|
determine the] factors that may have contributed to the death of the |
|
|
firefighter. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
