R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Patti Jurena Wiggs of Round Rock retired from Park |
|
|
Crest Middle School in Pflugerville on May 31, 2011, drawing to a |
|
|
close an outstanding career as an educator that spanned 29 years; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, During her notable tenure with the Pflugerville |
|
|
Independent School District, Ms. Wiggs distinguished herself as a |
|
|
language arts instructor and as the chair of the Language Arts |
|
|
Department; she received her master's degree in English education |
|
|
from Southwest Texas State University in 1985 and taught freshman |
|
|
composition for two years at the university; her experience also |
|
|
includes two years of teaching composition and developmental |
|
|
English at Laredo Community College; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Wiggs further contributes to her community |
|
|
through her involvement with the Round Rock Faith in Action |
|
|
Caregivers and the Texas Baptist Children's Home; she enjoys |
|
|
spending time with a fine family that includes a sister and |
|
|
brother-in-law, Carla and Larry Brownfield, a sister-in-law, |
|
|
Jeanie Wiggs, two nieces, Erin and Lauren Brownfield, a nephew, |
|
|
Matthew Brownfield, and two great-nieces, Flannery and Molly |
|
|
Brownfield; she is looking forward to traveling during retirement |
|
|
and will visit Uganda with a Libraries of Love mission trip in June |
|
|
2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Deeply committed to education, Patti Wiggs has made |
|
|
a positive difference in the lives of many young Texans, and she may |
|
|
indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as she embarks on |
|
|
an exciting new chapter in her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Patti Jurena |
|
|
Wiggs on her retirement from Park Crest Middle School in |
|
|
Pflugerville and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Wiggs as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
